I don't use this, but I've just come across this article that I thought might be of use to some of the members here who do.

This is not the first time the problem has arisen, Ive been aware of this problem since last september even though my MCSE tutor swears by Firefox.. below is an article dated from April that seems to suggest that this is not a new problem either HTH :)

Thanks Shreddie. I started using Firefox a couple of months ago as a result of having serious virus problems with IE6. Does this latest news mean it is any more or less secure than IE6? It doesn't say.
If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor.
Well, maybe...........

No browser will ever be secure.

As IE is used by the vast majority of computer users any security problems are going to noticed by more people sooner than with other browsers and as such will be highlighted in the media. The fact is that a fully patched IE is no less secure than any other fully patched browser. IE lacks many features that other browsers have implemented (like tabbed browsing). It also doesn't so much as adhere by the rules of the internet but tries to re-write them in it's own image. It's for reasons like this that IE is frowned upon by the net 'savvy'.

I use a browser called Maxthon - which is IE based BUT you wouldn't think so. It has tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, automatic translation of pages, full RSS compliance, a great ad and popup/under blocker and so on. It's free and is updated often.
