Tight Fit

I did a fairly weird photo story with Tight Fit once which I decided to put on my web site for the hell of it earlier on today. And that's when it struck me that I know next to nothing about the group - not even their names. I think the man was called Steve something. I can't recall the girls' names though and I have no idea what became of them. They had two big hits, Fantasy Island and (a  number one) The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Funny that i don't even know their names...  :(

I don't know their names - they were only employed to dance ... I think !

I do know who did the vocals on  The Lion Sleeps Tonight ;)

The blokes name was Steve Grant - not sure about the girlies.

I loved the single Fantasy Island though.... (hangs head in shame)  ;)

I believe initially there were different models posed as "Tight Fit" whenever the "group" appeared.

The real band was a few session men put together by the record company.

On the retro programme I saw, they interviewed the most famous bloke - the one who appeared on Top Of The Pops.  He still tours as "Tight Fit" despite not being able to sing a note.

This old bloke with long grey hair did the falsetto bit on The Lion Sleeps Tonight.


(A classically incorrect bit of pop. Lions are basically nocturnal and they live on grassy plains, not in the jungle, the mighty jungle...)
