mtv-- the 80's

i just heard the j j  jackson from the 'original' mtv died of a heart attack. i remember him well....i graduated that year mtv began its first year and he was a great dj!
mtv was much, much better back in the 80's than it is now--thats 4 sure! anyone else watch mtv from its beginnings? :'(

I REMEMBER VIDEOING HUNDREDS OF TUNES OFF MTV WHEN IT STARTED.............IT IS CRAP NOW.....JUST FULL OF DOCUMENTARIES AND TALKING..............LETS SEE MORE VIDEOS MTV PLEASE!

Must 'fess up to hardly ever watching (or have ever watched) MTV, VH1 et al.

MTV here in the UK was great when it was MTV Europe and played more or less non stop videos from around all of Europe.  I got introduced to loads of great tunes I wouldn't have otherwise, nowadays it seems to be non stop nonsense with the most demographic friendly videos they can find to play.  Shame!!

Whatever happened to all those VJs?
