Heeeeelp!!!
« on: May 13, 2004, 00:47:42 AM »
Hi guys n' gals!

Am new to the forum so a big "Helloooo" to you all!

I have a bit of a problem & I think you guys could be the ones to help me out!

I play in a covers band doing weddings & other functions and we're currently expanding our setlist - unfortunately we're a bit stuck! We've already got a load of of the classic stuff (Stones, Soul etc) but want some more modern material - 80's onwards!

Picture yourself at a wedding, Family party or Corporate function - what song(s) would make you smile, jump up & want to dance?

Can be anything from 50's to present as long as it can be played by a typical 5 piece band (drums, Bass, Guitar x2 & Vocals (Male & Female)).

Appreciate any help you can give us!

Cheers,

Stu!!!

Soft Cell - Tainted love, Heaven 17 - Temptation, The Cure- Friday I'm in love.  And every wedding I've been to has had Tenpole Tudor - Swords of A Thousand Men playing.  Maybe I just know some strange people!!
I would go out tonight but I haven't got a stitch to wear ...

Two quick comments DD,
Men at work didn't sing break my stride it was Matthew Wilder and Alpahvilles' "Forever Young" is one of the greatest 80s songs ever!!
Great list though some obvious some not so obvious might play a few myself this weekend. I'm DJing at a 70s/80s night :)

Ahhh but Forever Young is nothing like the rest of the songs Alphavilel did. Its still brilliant though, I listen to it in my land rover (21 year old land rover, 20 year old driver and 22 year old songs being played) 8).

I think I downloaded Break My Stride by accident once and liked it, and it said it was by Men at Work so I always assumed that was correct. Thats also how I found Alphaville - Downloaded Elevator and thought that sounded really good if you played it with a funny speaker mode.

There is a poll somewhere on Alphaville - have you checked it out DD?
