Hang about. You're being a bit Christian-centric. What if Pete meant 1980s in the Jewish year numbering system. That would be nearly 4,000 years ago.

Or whose to say it's not in Islamic years. In which case it's in the future.  :D

3rd October

1981: End of a 7 month hunger strike by Irish Nationalists in Maze Prison in Belfast. 10 people died.
1981: The Kinks played their first show at Madison Square Garden.
1988: The documentary "Imagine," about John Lennon, premiered in Hollywood.
1989: An unsuccessful coup was attempted against Panamanian Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega.

Famous Birthdays:
1947: Lindsey Buckingham

The above-mentioned years are measured according to the Gregorian Calendar commonly used in Western Europe and the Americas, in my plane of existance. That'd be Christian, not Judaic or Islamic or Pagan  ::)   :P

Thanks for clearing that up O0 ;D

So if I had a neat fact about this day in 1959 .... Postcodes were introduced in Britain, that wouldn't count?

AATA - Prince Charming was #1 on this day in 1981
Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie was #1 on this day in 1982

Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You was #1 on this day in 1984
Midge Ure - If I Was was #1 on this day in 1985
Communards - Don't Leave ME This Way was #1 on this day in 1986
M/A/R/R/S - Pump Up The Volume was #1 on this day in 1987
U2 - Desire was #1 on this day in 1988
Black Box - Ride On Time was #1 on this day in 1989

... that'd be OK ?

Yup:
I was selective with the facts from www.on-this-day.com only choosing the more interesting ones...
and www.onthisdayinhistory.co.uk says that Take That featuring Lule were at #1 in 1983. I don't think so!

And I should only post the #1's in the UK if they made it to #1 on that day Shy (I think people might go and watch some paint drying otherwise  ;D)
