Its a question about car batteries!
« on: January 09, 2009, 21:46:26 PM »
Quite simply, I drive a 4X4 with a heavy duty battery but this last few mornings with the cold its been letting me down. I know the alternator is putting out enough juice as ive had a multimeter on it and checked it but the battery is only 18 months old so it shouldnt be failing already should it? Not too worried as it carries a 5 yr warranty.

I have the body of a 19 year old. I keep it in the fridge.......................

Electrolyte levels? Or is it a sealed unit?

Depends what you have running
Heaters, lights radio
And are you long journey or short
Takes 15 mins to recharge after a start up ?

Maintenance free sealed unit 3B.

Not been running too many things, I know that she pulls a hell of a lot of current when she starts and tbh, as I have not had a lot of work of late its been mostly short trips so hopefully its just that. Anyway, as a precaution ive got a trickle charger set up overnight till the nights get a bit milder.

Just had to get a new battery for mine. damn thing crapped out on me, probably due to cold weather and short trips, plus, as already said, using heater blower, heated rear window and heated windscren, headlights etc takes a hell of a lot out of a battery.
If you take out more than you put back then even a new battery will suffer.
