Fab group :)
-
Wasn't Ringo in that ?
-
I've got their debut 12" in the picture sleeve! O0
Didn't their drummer have a cosmetic operation that went horribly wrong? ???
-
Dumpys' Rusty Nuts were miles better!
-
No they were copycats!
WOW so many peole have heard of them, I'm really impressed
Cleo you are indeed correct. It was something to do with his noodle
-
No they were copycats!
NO they weren't! :o
-
Didn't their drummer have a cosmetic operation that went horribly wrong? ???
Is that where the expression, '(s)he's got a face like a bag of spanners' came from?
-
They damn well were! The trousers and the ballet shoes - just plain old copycats >:(
-
The lead singer was gorgeous! :smitten:
His name was Andy something... I think he was Scottish.

Never mind spangle. ;)

Spangle, don't get your knickers in a twist. :)
Cleo asked if someone in the band called 'A Bag Of Spanners' had cosmetic surgery that went horribly wrong.
I then asked if that's where the expression '(s)he has a face like a bag of spanners' came from.
Nowt to do with you, so don't take it personally. ::)
-
My knickers are always smooth thank you ;)
-
I'm very glad to hear it. O0
-
Talking of smooth ;)

FYI - A Bag Of Spanners was the offspring of what was left of Dumpys' Rusty Nuts after their acrimonious (sp) and very public split in 1979. Similarly, two members of DRN went on to form the brilliant Ned's Atomic Dustbin.
Similarities maybe, copycats definitley not.
:)
-
Wow SHreddie you have done your homework. ;)
Ned's Atomic Dustbin had their moments but you cannot compare their first album "Sheds? What are the good for?" with ABOS's "Every Time I Go to Wales" it was blatent rip off
-
and Shreds can't get her knickers in a knot
-
DRN were doomed to failure. I saw them supporting The Scars once. Very poor performance and that bass player was very worrying.
-
Didn't he used to pretend he was riding a whale? or am I thinking of the other one?
-
Not sure about that one Spangle.
Nice to find someone who remembers ABOS though O0
-
and Shreds can't get her knickers in a knot
Indeed, what are knickers? ???

Yes you can. It was 'Every Time I Go To Welsh Wales' ::)
I particularly liked the track 'Pulling Plonkers', which was rather badly covered by David Sylvian and re-named 'Pulling Punches' ;D
-

you'll have to ask TCM, it seems he knows alot about knickers and how they feel when they are twisted up ?

The reformed Neds Atomic Dustbin are playing at Glastonbury this year. I don't expect to be watching them ... ::)
-
Wasn't one of ABOS wrenched off the stage during a gig in Bolton ?
-
I guess we can't go off thread with this one .....
I can't say that I find ABOS rivetting either O0
-
I think it's a fine thread O0
-
You're all nuts! ::)
-
You've hit the nail on the head there
-
Hurumph!

-
Can't say I know any of their stuff.
-
You have to clean your lugs out
you don't know what your missing out on
-
Lord Villa, listen to what the other members are saying, they rocked! :)
Running with my Dog Dandy was ultimately their best track by far
-
Spangle that is a hard track to beat
the rift in the middle was brought together nicely O0
-
Didn't they release a 13mm picture disc ... or was it 1/2" AF ?
-
The had a few Flexi-Disc's out
-
My mom remembers them! How can that be when I don't,she said the lead singer had a very nice voice :) :) But then again, she has got Right Said Fred's album in her collection-so I don't tend to listen to her
-
.... But then again, she has got Right Said Fred's album in her collection......
.... did she get them confused with Right Hand Thread maybe ?
