The Evil of the 80's
« on: December 28, 2009, 13:25:59 PM »
So its all over for the 80's, but when we think about it, what did the 80's ever do for us?.    Are all the things it brought really blessings?.

Great items from the 80's

1. The ATM card.

For:  You could now access your money 24 hours a day.

Against:.  It was the 80's so you never had any money to talk about, your card only worked in one atm, that was at least 5 miles from wherever you were.

2. The Home computer.

For:  Now you can play video games at home, without the need to spend countless coins in the local arcade.    It could also help you to understand how computers worked.

Against:  Mum constantly screaming that she wants to watch Corrie, and that she heard from Mrs O Brien  down the road that "them things ruin the telly and "rot your brain".    It also took about 10 mins to load an average program, and then instantly crashed if you looked in its general direction while it loaded.

And you could only use the card at your own bank (or branches of your Bank),

The mobile phone

1.  You can make calls to anyone, anywhere at anytime

2.  They were the size of a brick, there was little service and cost a fortune, but it was the poser item to have!

Sadly with number 1, you cannot escape anyone!   unless you switch it off of course, but then you get "why was your phone switched off.?!?!?"
