Five Star...
« on: October 25, 2003, 18:38:17 PM »
I just re-discovered my old Silk and Steel album from Five Star - and I'd forgotten how good it was!

Am I the only person around who likes Five Star? They seem to be looked upon as the epitome of 'cheesy' pop music from the 80's and every program on TV that mentions them pours scorn over the music. It may well be completely manufactured 'cheese' from the 80's but surely that's not a bad thing!

Anyways, I like it!

Anyone else?

Please tell me I'm not alone in this affliction!!!!

(If you've never heard them them and you like 80's pop then give 'em a try!)

I always thought they were a bit of a girl's band really. ;)
My wife saw them in concert and would certainly agree that the Silk and Steel album is great. So yes I know someone who likes them but not me...... ;D.Although I'm sure i've danced to their music once or twice (after a few drinks!) :P

Well, Five Star were a girls band with respect to the fact they were made up of 5 girls (well, 4 girls and a lad who thought/thinks he is a girl!  [smiley=lips2.gif] <<< that's what he looks like!!!)

Mind you, I did say I liked the music - didn't mention anything about them as people. I believe they have been trying to make it big in America recently - to no avail. They seem perfectly aimiable people though...

I quite like Five Star, I never regarded them as a 'girls band' though! I wouldn't say they were a band I'd really go out of my way for, but they were decent enough.

What was your favourite track by them?

I'd have to go for 'Rain or Shine'.

My fave is 'If I say yes!'

Nice upbeat tempo, pure pop.

On the album Silk and Steel, the 'bloke' out of 5 star sings track 5 - 'Please don't say goodnight' which is a totally unexpected slow song which in all honesty is actually pretty good.

My favourite 5* song has to be "The Slightest Touch" (I've only heard that and "Rain Or Shine", and I can't even remember what it sounds like![smiley=new_Llol.gif])

Andy,I loved five star in the 80's and still do!!They recently had a hit album in u.s.a. called 'funktified' and a top 100 single too which is an achievement there!!

Their silk and steel album superb as was 'between the lines'.

I recently got a c.d. copy of rock the world, the album that finished their careers, some brilliant tracks on it,especially 'Brand new world' and 'Godsend'.

Bring back 5star!!!nig

Christ, look at his face now! Looks like Michael Myers from Halloween.  Remember look-o-likey US sensations ' The Jets'? Crush on you was given away on flexidisc on the front of Look In.
