THE ENGLISH BEAT

D'oh - that so annoys me! (Don't worry Anique, it's not your fault).

The Beat - who were a BIG band at the time were forced to change their name in the USA because there was a band of no-records releasede, no-hopers from somewhere like Kansas called The Beat.  >:(
Bang bang, the mighty fall ...

Saw ABC (well, Martin Fry and a band) at King Tut's in Glasgow around 4 yeard ago and it was a blinding gig, one of the best I've ever been to. The laddie has an amazing voice. If you're a guy and thinking of going I'd thoroughly recommend it. The gig at Tut's consisted of an audience that was around 80% female and panting for Martin. The air was thick with pheromones, I can tell you!

I saw the Bands Reunited show featuring Frankie Goes to Hollywood a little while back, it's just a shame that they only reunited just to catch up with themselves, and didn't actually end up playing together again.

I was a massive beat fan, english beat 4 our American friends, and it was great to see them on the screen again, although it was a pity they couldnt persuade messrs cox and steele to join the fun, lifes to short boys.

The English Beat play here in So Cal all the time. I think it is because both Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger (allegedly) moved somewhere in Orange County (in different houses of course! lol). I only wish Wayne Hussey would come out of hiding and start playing Mission stuff as he lives very close to me as well!!

God, I'm bored. I might as well be listening to Genesis.

I always remember Melody Maker running a headline staing "One of The Beat in bisexual shocker - clue; it's not the white one!"

That was the Mobiles Ron ;D
Motels did - Whose Problem and Days Are OK - they are an Aussie band (OHW has some of their stuff).

VH-1 are running Bands Reunited this week along with some out takes.

It is interesting to see the attitudes of some of these guys and how they didn't really benefit (financially) from their successes :(

BTW - Walvis - AFOS are a top band - glad you found some mor eof their music ... have you checked out the poll here:

Gosh...I used to go to a lot of blues parties in the late 80's and saw Rankin Roger at a couple, can't recall him getting off with anyone-male or female. But he was very well groomed for a man.

I see this thread started ages ago, but I saw the Haircut 100 show and Kajagoogoo - they were great!! The gorgeous Nick from H100 is still really cute, but don't think the Kaja guys really wanted to get together  :-\

I could be wrong, but I think ABC has also been shown......

Saw the Frankie says Reform program last night about how they auditioned for a new singer as Holly didn't want to rejoin the group.  Brought back some great memories.  Must remember to watch Bands Reunited tonight.  Dunno who it is though ...
I would go out tonight but I haven't got a stitch to wear ...
