The Best 80s album
« on: August 19, 2006, 12:49:32 PM »
What do you think is the ultimate best 80s album and why? You can only choose one! (it can't be a greatest hits or compilation either!)

After much deliberation and any sentiments aside I think for me it has to be The Cars- Heartbeat City -every song is different in someway but the album in general has a perfect 80s sound. It was produced by Robert Mutt Lange (the future Mr. Shania Twain!) and combines the new wave sound with rock.

Prince - Purple Rain.

Just because every song on there is great.  I remember getting into Prince (not literally) during my last year at secondary school so this album also reminds me of that last summer of childhood  O0

Hmm. Haven't replied before becausae I think we've covered this topic before, but as I said then if I had to pick just one fave from that decade, I'd go for The Pixies - Surfer Rosa.

This is really a tough question, but if I had too choose one album I guess it would have to be 'Solitude Standing' by Suzanne Vega.

Present Arms (UB 40).. a great story how a bunch of unemployed guys got themselves out of poverty... musically it's nearly perfect.. and they've never equalled it since!!
