last night of his uk tour and he comes to my l'il ole theatre..
really impressed by the turnout..just over 850 people in, we only hold just over 930...that's a good house..
support was a guy and a geetar..can't remember his name, ok voice but nothing outstanding..
George comes on fashionably late...
Usual attire of snazzy hat and glittery jacket...i notice he's got comfy sandals on tho!
Plays a really good mixture of solo old stuff, Culture Club, one song from Taboo and a couple of his new songs..works well and keeps everyone happy.
Highlights...'I'll tumble 4 ya' really gets everyone up and dancing, 'Only trying to help you'...the backing vocalist does Helen Terry proud, 'Do you really want to hurt me' first biggie of the eve, 'Bow down, Mister' last song of the night and the place was buzzing with 'hari hari khrishnas!'
Lowlights...not many tbh, he can still belt them out like he always could..if i had to say there was a low point, it was his flat refusal to do any meet and greets after the show..a few autographs at the stage door wouldn't have killed him!
As an usher i was given the terrible job of being right next to the stage stopping people from getting too close! Not that there were too many problems..a really strange mixture of people in..from kids to Trannies to Grannies!
George's family were in as well as it was the last one of the UK tour.
All in all a thoroughly good evening...the Old Boy still has it!
