I thought it would be a nice idea to build up a database of info on 80's bands/artists in the form of :

stories you have relating to songs or concerts
comments on a band/ song
reviews of performances (past or present)
or just general comment where you can express your thoughts, opinions and knowledge with everyone on the board.

It might be a good way for newbies (and others) to give us an idea on their interests and have an opportunity to get some posts in.

Alternatively - if you see a post elsewhere on the site (eg What are you listening to) and you have a comment come here and post it.

If you have something to offer - either add it to an existing thread or create a new one.

If we try to keep every thread by band/ artist name - then anyone interested in trivia or details on a band can come here and have a look through to see what has been recorded and/ or add to it.

Any comments/ queries - just let me know and I'll try to help.

Ok, hope I'm posting this in the right forlder...

I just saw that The Human League are on tour in november, and I'm still annoyed about their first concert ever in Sweden, in May 2004.

The concert was in Göteborg at Romeo Night, Sweden's greatest synthpop club, at Tradgarn (The Garden): http://www.tradgarn.se

We had looked forward to this event, but was much disappointed. They played 9 songs and the "concert" lasted 35 minutes. Only the three of them, no band, only singback. And we payed 30 euro for the lot.

It was really, really crappy and a very odd way of thanking the fans in Sweden... ;(

Concerts nowadays dont seem to entice me. In the 80's it was every week down the Odeon in Birmingham and if you could not get in you went to Platform 1 on New Street Station to hear the Gig. I have been to a few 80's memorobilia concerts - some people should just say sorry cant do it anymore.

Best:

Heaven 17 - Quality
ABC - Martin Fry gets better every time
China Crisis - bit of a drab set but musically good

Worst:

Paul Young: Oh my god he was terrible.
Five Star - Half mime and half radio mic dont work for me
Belinda Carlisle - I love her so much but she was woeful - my mates mocked me.
He's the greatest,
He's fantastic,
Wherever there is danger he'll be there! Hes the ace, He's amazing, He's the strongest, he's the quickest, he's the best! Dangermouse, Dangermouse, Dangermouse!

Best 80's concert I've seen: Hmmm...tie between Eurythmics with Howard Jones opening and David Bowie.

Worst 80's Concert: Duran Duran right after the breakup of the original group. Erasure opened so the night wasn't a loss. I walked out after 4 Duran songs....they were off key and lacklustre. I was really bummed out because i had wanted to see them for so long.

God, I'm bored. I might as well be listening to Genesis.
