indeed, Cleo- our darkest moment!
What do you mean
our darkest moment, I thought you're from the Channel Islands?
Fortunately the UK 'nul point' fiasco was during a period when watching it was obligatory when the kids were under 8. That alone made the whole thing worth watching that night, I can honestly say it was the first and almost certainly the only time I was entertained by the Eurovision Song Contest. They were so bad they were brilliant! Absolutely superb they were.
They certainly got the full 12 points from the daddy jury in the TCM household contest, much to the incredulity of the kids who just took them a face value and thought they were crap. Put it down to the under devoloped sense of humour of children.
Then to cap it all the following day they were on the telly and were in complete denial about just how abysmal their performance was!
They argued that their poor showing had nothing to do with their singing but was actually politically motivated by the Iraq war (I don't think they really used the big words like 'politically motivated' as neither of them were the sharpest tool in the shed but that was the thrust of their defence). So according to them it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they were crap singers singing a crap song. Not that the latter seems to be a hinderence in this contest, but I do feel the ability to sing in a song contest should be a fundemental prerequesite.
Classic comedy which I'm glad to say is frequently repeated on various '100 Most Embarassing....', 50 Funniest.....', '100 Worst.....' type shows.
I've not heard the UK entry this year... any chance of a repeat? If so, I'll definately watch.
